As astounding as the whole rank idea is the notion that the bizarre stick-insect creature on the ground and those mannequin clones surrounding it are somehow ‘erotic’.

But don’t you love D & G’s response:
“We certainly do not want to attack women, a sex for whom we have always declared our love, as the feminine market represents 60 percent of our worldwide sales.”

In an inverse way, it rather reminds me of an immortal line in Muriel’s Wedding, where a character is defending her boyfriend against the charge of raping a Japanese tourist:

“He’d NEVER rape a Japanese woman! He HATES Japanese people.”

Thank you. That was a good analysis. My feeling is that there would have been quite a few meetings at D&G about commercial risks of a faux scandal and doubtless the words “perhaps we shouldn’t do it because it’s tasteless, insulting and promoting rape” were not heard.
