No I don't have a blog Helen. I have started a couple of times, but I get to about 5 entries and delete it all again. My parents had a series of books about a man who kept otters; Ring of Bright Water was one. I can remember sobbing over those, and Watership Down.

My Side of the Mountain was a Puffin Book Club Choice in about 1973? Which is how I came across it... Thoreau for Kiddies. Fabulous book. Sequel is On the Far Side of the Mountain.

Mark, just read your post on MSOTM and other kids' books - I never knew there were sequels. I did see the movie (not as good as the book of course).

Commenter David mentioned February Dragon by Colin Thiele - heartbreaking animal stories there.

Hey Helen, thanks for the 'optional tag' – I will do it (sometime this week!), so count me as netted and 'tagged', okay?

By the way, I just LOVED My Side of the Mountain too! Though I didn't have a cooee's chance of learning falconing where I grew up!

BTW, do marsupials have to feature somewhere? Hmm, have to wrack my brain for that...
