Surely with proposed targets of 60% – 90% emission cuts our transport managers should be committed to promoting the combined use of bicycles and public transport. In fact it seems to me this is the only practicable way to commute in the future. The private automobile will crush any chances of meeting our emission targets.

FX, I have to say this isn’t the FX I know. You seem very damning towards a young woman whose attire is probably dictated by the environment in which she’s working.

Is a young guy who’s just wearing the clothes demanded of him by the work environment a “strutting careerist”? Is it the natural order of women not to want careers, therefore anyone corporately dressed on the train who is not male must be a strutting egomaniac? Should she be barefoot, pregnant and back at home at 8 am?

(I can think of one, very common reason why a young woman would throw up at 8 am. I’m working with a young woman who goes for a regular hurl every hour or so. Come on, work it out FX – it’s not too difficult! There’s a clue in the previous sentence.)

So you didn’t like the sympathetic comments from gunzels on Railpage or something? Considering most of the local players in this campaign were 1. female and 2. not IT nerds, I’m puzzled to where your particular judgment stems from.

Mind you I’m more disgusted by ample male bellies overflowing their belts & strides and immature foul mouthed pod dweller cockheads, than a extremely rare sighting of actual bike-riding hippies any day.

Having had a smelly, scruffily dressed, dreadlocked, smelly, green stickered, neo hippy ona muddy rainy day bang his badly maintained mountain bike up against my suit leg on a morning train not only giving me a large brown streak of mud but also a generous smear of grease. along with an insincere sneering apology – thus rendering me not only de-satorialised on the day but nessecitating dicing the suit – I was happy to see the ban.

To be fair I have also had my shoes and lower left hand trouser spewed on at an 8 am commute by a female besuited pencil skirted stiletto strutting careerist . I still haven’t figure out the reason.

In addition as usual I wasn’t impressed by the legions of shower dodging IT guys who rushed to the net to rail against “teh fascists”.

On the other hand as a bicycle pedaler I was inconvenienced as I have on oaccasin to rail it with the bike in peak hour. (Not that I’d ever go to any proper work sweaty, with helmet hair and in “casual riding gear”) and longed for a confrontation with a Ticket Inspector.

In the end I guessed it was a fuck up by a senior public service wonk(ette) and would be rescinded. It was.

Game plan for any grassroots campaign, firstly clearly work out your basic demands, get a email list, contact anyone or anything who could be vaguely interested in the campaign, get a website (huge thx to Brianna!) and keep it together with plenty of straight talking and networking. Also take every opportunity to tart away in the meedya (nicely)
