Oh, I know, i've done a similar thing with my boy. Forgot to lock the studio, which has a door that swings back and shuts itself. For some unknown reason he insists on letting himself in and shutting the door on himself. On a hot day that room becomes an oven. An unexpected visit home found him deeply distressed, with the door almost scratched through. Another hour and he would have been a goner.

Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I have these memory lapses all the time these days. So scary when you think they can so easily end up affecting your pets and/or family. So glad all worked out Ok in the end.

Helen, that is so awful. The same thing happened with our cat once. She crawled into our car and we didn't know she was in there and we did up the windows and accidentally locked her in the car, full sun, very hot day, for hours and hours. Fortunately went down to retrieve something from the car and found her in there, unable to walk, wet with sweat, gasping. Hideous sight, like Ollie though she recovered that day. It still makes me feel like complete shit to think about it - the vulnerability, the what if you hadn't made it in time, the thought of that animal being completely trapped... arggh, what am I doing re-living it? And why am I telling you all this, you poor thing, you are trying to recover from your own ordeal?

Anyway, so glad your story had a happy ending.

P.S. Agggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I was so happy to read last week that he recovered quickly, and even happier now to know that he continues bright-eyed and waggy-tailed. ((((Ollie))))
